HOW LONG WILL THE BATTERIES LAST?
A very good question, and you will hear some dealers make outrageous statements! This has been our experience over a period of many years and thousands of dogs and cats:
If you have many kids in the home, (and we found boys are the worse) they will have fun with the new collar and may initially shock each other and their friends. Sometimes the husbands do the same thing, thus reducing the life of the first original batteries.
If you have a really tough dog, he/she will be testing the system quite a bit during the training stage and again your initial battery will not last as long.
If you have a dog (like our Abbey) who every time she is let out runs to the perimeter and checks to see if the fence is on, your original battery again will not last as long.
If you have a dog (like our Petey) who has not gone near the perimeter since it was installed your original battery will last quite a long time.
But after the original battery and training period, you should on the average see 4 to 9 months of battery use before you will need a battery replacement.
